Brett LaFave
Brett has been working in education for more than a decade and has always had a passion for learning. As a National Merit Scholar he earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Arizona State University in African American Studies and Mathematics. He also holds a master’s degree in Secondary Math Education from Empire State College (also summa cum laude). He teaches math at the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY.
Brett has a great deal of experience that informs his work. Having worked with students in both traditional and alternative academic settings, he is able to serve a full spectrum of academic needs. Brett is a published writer of fiction. He has led international service trips.and climbed the 46 High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Brett just completed canoeing from Lake Champlain to the Statue of Liberty. He also enjoys storytelling, music, writing, speaking French, and traveling.
Brett believes that teachers are incredibly lucky: not only do they have the opportunity to teach their students specific subjects, but they also have the power to teach young people how powerful they can be.
